Chemical Industry

A chemical cold storage facility is a critical installation specifically designed for storing chemicals that are temperature-sensitive and require low-temperature stabilization. Its core function is to ensure the physicochemical stability of chemicals through precise temperature control, effectively reducing risks such as decomposition, polymerization, volatilization, and even explosion, thereby safeguarding production safety and preserving material value.

Common Chemicals and Their Storage Requirements:

1. Flammable and Explosive Chemicals: Examples include various epoxy resins, peroxides (such as methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, MEKP), and organic solvents (e.g., acetone, benzene, ethanol). These substances are highly prone to combustion or explosion at elevated temperatures. Storage temperatures are typically strictly set between -10°C and -20°C or even lower to significantly suppress their volatility and reduce vapor pressure. While storage duration is often extended, regular stability inspections are necessary.

2. Chemicals Prone to Polymerization: Examples include monomers such as acrylic acid, acrylonitrile, and styrene. Low temperatures effectively prevent their spontaneous polymerization reaction. Storage temperatures generally need to be maintained between 0°C and 10°C. The storage time must be strictly controlled within the manufacturer's specified safe period (typically ranging from several months to half a year), and these chemicals should be used promptly.

3. Biochemical Reagents and Pharmaceutical Intermediates: Examples include various enzyme preparations, reference standards, antibiotics, and proteins. High temperatures can cause them to deactivate or denature. Depending on the product characteristics, storage temperatures are mostly set at -20°C (frozen) or 2°C to 8°C (refrigerated). Storage duration must adhere to strict expiration date management regulations.
